Behind the scenes: sources, calculations & fact ledger
AI-assisted storytelling · private local calculations. This is prewritten AI-assisted narration, not live AI generation. The Orcha language model authored an offline editorial pack at build time: varied headlines and narratives for verified increases, decreases, equal values, milestones, shared-year comparisons, projections and missing records. On your device, deterministic rules select a matching passage and substitute calculated facts. No model is called on your data; nothing is sent for generation.
Your lens changes the lead metric in the country and comparison scenes; life expectancy also changes the timeline observations. Places & connection adds geographic framing without assuming you moved. Within each verified predicate, a stable selection based on fact ID and interest varies the wording, not the facts. Missing selected metrics remain explicit. Every narrative number is bound to a fact or your chosen year. Missing values are never treated as zero or interpolated. The downloaded facts JSON includes editorial provenance, template IDs, predicates and bindings for audit.
Historical population and life expectancy: local born.json, World Bank Indicators, CC BY 4.0. Names, coordinates and latest urban share: local world.json (World Bank). Future population: local timeline.json, UN WPP 2024 medium scenario via Our World in Data. Projection values are not observations, nor a prediction of your individual life. Life expectancy at birth is a population-level period measure, not your remaining lifespan. Datasets may have different reference years; each fact carries its own year. Historical country series may use current reporting boundaries.
